There were plenty of reasons for celebration on Saturday as Wolverhampton Wanderers marked the 130 year Molineux anniversary, but sadly the result against visitors Chelsea meant the match was one to forget.
Nobody should get too carried away with the 5-2 defeat on the day as Chelsea were just clinical and it was our first loss in the last 16 home matches, so things need to be put into perspective – albeit we are still waiting for our first Premier League win of the 2019/20 campaign.
With a poorer performance on the day and errors, statistics website Whoscored only had two players rate above a seven in their system, but Joao Moutinho sat top of the pile with a 7.54 rating.
Completing the top five on the day were Diogo Jota (7.23), Patrick Cutrone (6.98), Matt Doherty (6.62) and Adama Traore (6.40).
A poor day and head coach Nuno Espirito Santo pulled no punches when it came to the improvements he was still expecting the squad to make, but again, we’ll have off days and when they happen there’s no point throwing the baby out with the bathwater.
